Kansas City Council Condemns Vandalism Targeting LGBT+ But Silent On Gang Tagging

This evening our elected officials offered a pleasing statement in solidarity with denizens of the LGBT community.

However . . .

HAD THEY BEEN PAYING ATTENTION, MAYOR & COUNCIL MIGHT NOTICE THAT KANSAS CITY GANG GRAFFITI & TAGGING HAS BEEN GETTING WORSE!!!

Again, this is a detail that has garnered consistent resident complaints over the years . . . And many locals can't help but notice silence from city hall when there's not a political payoff for speaking up.

Still . . . This statement is warm & fuzzy . . . Check-it . . .

The Kansas City Council condemned the vandalism in an unanimous vote approving a resolution reaffirming “its commitment to diversity, inclusion, and creating a safe and welcoming city for all residents, commuters, city employees and visitors.”

Councilwoman Andrea Bough, District 6 at-large, said it was important to her that the city reaffirm its commitments.

“When a symbol of love and inclusion in Brookside, in the heart of the sixth district, was vandalized,” Bough said, “the community, led by the youngest of our community, these children, came out and said, ‘we’re not going to stand for this; we are going to show that we are a city of diverse, inclusive and a welcoming community.’”
