Kansas City 2022 Homicide #84: Lady Driver Shot Dead Behind The Wheel

For the second time this weekend a south side Kansas City driver suffered fatal gunfire that likely preceded a car crash. Police are asking the community for help in this case as the homicide count continues to outpace last year's historic number — The 2nd highest in KCMO history.

Here is the first report . . .

Homicide 8700 block of Sycamore Ave

This morning at about 12:30 AM, officers were dispatched to the 8700 block of Sycamore in regard to an injury accident. The calling party said they heard gunshots right before the crash. When officers arrived they observed a vehicle in the road. As they approached they observed an adult female In the drivers seat who had been shot and was unresponsive. EMS responded and declared the victim deceased. We do not have any suspect information at this time.

Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene for evidence.
