"AIS responded to meet CPD officers on a reported Injury Accident with Critical Injuries. Investigation revealed that CPD officers were initially dispatched to 11th and Grand on a large outside disturbance.
"A white Fiat 500 with two occupants left the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers were contacted and advised that one of the occupants of the Fiat was armed with a gun and the vehicle almost ran over a pedestrian.
"Officers attempted to conduct a car check on the vehicle but the vehicle refused to stop. A pursuit was initiated based on the totality of the circumstances. The pursuit was terminated when the Fiat entered westbound I-70 traveling in the wrong direction from 13th and Charlotte.
"The Fiat continued to travel eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-70 at a high rate of speed. In the area of I-70 and Benton, the Fiat collided with a westbound gold Toyota Solara, then slid into the guardrail located on the northbound side of westbound I-70. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured.
"The driver of the Fiat was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The passenger of the Fiat was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries. At the time of this report, the investigation is ongoing to include possible impairment by the driver of the Fiat."

One critically injured after wrong-way crash, police chase
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City Police Department said one person is in critical condition following an overnight wrong-way crash that led to a police chase. Officers responded to 11th and Grand Boulevard on a disturbance call and a white Fiat 500 with two people inside left the scene at a high rate of speed.
