Pushing Back Against Plaza Developers

A termed out council lady offers this community a bit of support in the eternal struggle to SAVE THE PLAZA from real estate speculators.

Councilwoman Katheryn Shields is sponsoring the measure with backing from Block Real Estate Services LLC and advocacy group Friends of the Plaza. On Tuesday, the groups pointed to ongoing parking concerns at one Plaza property, Drake Development LLC's Jack Henry building at 612 W. 47th St., in underscoring the need for timely notice of such staff decisions.

"It doesn't do any good to say, 'Hey, you have the right to appeal, and here's the process for it, oh, but never mind, we're never going to tell you when the decision is made,'" Shields said Tuesday during a nine-hour City Plan Commission meeting. "That's the situation we're in."
