Kansas City Stuck With Big 12 For At Least Another Five Years

Sorry but the 2022 tournament was a bust. 

The ongoing impact of COVID, higher gas prices and impending recession all conspired against local biz hoping to host big crowds. 

And nothing is worse than sports fans who demand attention without spending power. 

Accordingly . . . 

This local tourism "victory" might have stopped paying dividends and possibly represents and old way of doing biz . . .

That means Kansas City will remain the host site for the Phillips 66 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships through at least 2027.

“Kansas City’s long affiliation with the Big 12 Conference entered an exciting new chapter in 2020 when we welcomed the women’s tournament back to Kansas City,” said Kathy Nelson, President and CEO of the Kansas City Sports Commission and Visit KC in a statement. “Our city’s passion for basketball is on full display during the Big 12 Basketball Championships and we could not be more excited to continue our tradition of excellence when hosting these tournaments.”
