Kansas City Playlist: Upcoming World Cup Threatens To Worsen Inflation

It's hard to blame desperate locals for wanting a sign of economic hope amid record breaking inflation.

Currently Kansas City politicos & promoters are promising MILLIONS worth of "economic impact" ahead of upcoming games.

Again, unfortunately there's reason to doubt those numbers . . . And a bit of irony . . .

Many studies suggest that the World Cup actually worsens inflation

Here's the money line . . .

"It is also feared that hosting such an event may have adverse effect such as increased inflation rate due to the expected high spending rates especially by the foreigners thus making consumer goods to be expensive which is a great disadvantage to the poor people in the country."

And so . . .

What we're all overlooking is a basic economic reality . . .

THE WORLD CUP WILL LIKELY MAKE LIFE HARDER FOR KANSAS CITY PO'FOLK!!!

Even better . . . We asked our newsletter subscribers about how they would celebrate this global event and here was the best answer:

"I'll be celebrating the World Cup at home . . . DEFINITELY watching ANYTHING else."

Accordingly, we share tonight's playlist on this topic . . .

An old school Ricky Martin tune is probably the best soccer song of the modern era and seems to speak to how many other people on the planet appreciate this sport that most cowtown denizens ignore . . .

Here's a remarkably similar song by Pitbull & J-Lo that's not quite as catchy but still respectable . . .

Shakira sings her praises to World Cup soccer and we trust her because her hips don't lie . . .

Of all the songs on tonight's list, this one is probably the worst. The unity theme is more corporate marketing than honest sentiment and there's no catchy sing-along section . . . Take a quick listen . . .

Finally, most of these tunes connect back to this 1987 classic that started the World Cup theme trend . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.
