Rock Chalk Deadly Gunfire: Double Shooting At Lawrence, Kansas Hy-vee Overnight

This is just outside of the metro area but the reporting is relevant given that rise of gun crime throughout the nation . . . And to correct the misconception that shooting only happens in the urban core.

"Officers responded at 9:41 p.m. to a call of a shooting in the parking lot of the grocery store on Clinton Parkway. There they found one man dead at the scene, and EMS transported a second man to a local hospital with critical injuries. He later died, according to the Lawrence Police Department. 

There is no indication that anyone else was involved, and police were quick to say there was no longer a threat to public safety. The exact circumstances of the shooting were not immediately clear."

2 killed in shooting at Lawrence Hy-Vee parking lot

LAWRENCE, Kan. (KCTV) -- A shooting Tuesday night in the Hy-Vee parking lot in Lawrence left the area blocked off and two men dead. Officers responded at 9:41 p.m. to a call of a shooting in the parking lot of the grocery store on Clinton Parkway.
