New KCI Preview?!? Airport Concessions Winner OHM Suffered Shameful Pensacola Delay

Let's start this post with a friendly reminder that TKC's self-defeating anti-social demeanor has prevented this blog from profiting from the new airport feeding frenzy.

Fun fact . . .

There's a far more "friendly" and diverse Kansas City news outlet which has garnered a newstand contract to sell overpriced bubble gum to travelers  . . . That's right . . . TKC is so bad a business that we can't even wrap our head around an airport burrito stand in return for complimentary coverage.

But I digress . . .

Let's get back to the only thing this blog knows about a nasty Florida town . . .

The Pensacola Payphone

Noun: A sexual act. Specifically, when a roll of quarters is placed in a woman's vagina, and a phone set to vibrate is placed in her anus. The phone is called and the vibrations cause the quarters to fall out.

Woman: "Last night I got really drunk and let Randy do a Pensacola Payphone on me. Now my phone's ruined and I'm out of laundry money."

That wasn't a digression . . .

Just a reminder that it's a waste of time for anybody to try to "work" this blog given that there's no separating TKC's bad attitude from our news goodness, alt. journalistic integrity that we dutifully share with are fellow plebs, malcontents and losers. Typos, warts & all.

Also . . . We just wanted to give Will Gregory a giggle if/when his bosses test his patience and force him to text us.

Now that I've ruined the value of this post with my gutter humor . . .

Here's a reminder that New KCI's management STILL doesn't have everyone's confidence . . .

A not so long ago bit of history behind in Florida as their tactics are getting scrutinized . . .

"OHM won the airport contract over the local vendor that previously had the food concession . . . The concession competition was contentious, including a threat from OHM to sue the City of Pensacola, which owns the airport."

The local connection . . .

Campaign disclosure reports showed Mayor Lucas received a $1,000 contribution in 2019 from the president of OHM Concession Group, which was part of the Vantage team.  Lucas said (the) contribution would have no impact on how they voted on the matter.

A quick quote from an insider sent our way to provide more context . . .

"If the plan is to start concessions construction over the Summer they are already planning on being late they just haven't told anybody yet. It is going to cost whatever locals are left in the deal 25 percent more in construction then they were planning on. Plus there is the supply chain issue. A lot of the things they need are fixtures, millwork, equipment are overseas and are back ordered because of system wide demand . Remember they have not been on concessions update since October of 2021 now you know why."

New airport restaurants delayed

The openings of four new planned restaurants at Pensacola International Airport that were scheduled for in October will be delayed until late December or January. "January is the worst case scenario, we would like to open in December," said Jason Jarrar, vice president of operations at OHM Group, the St.
