Pitmasters from across the country talk barbecue, traditions at Kansas City BBQ Festival

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City BBQ Festival is back for its second year at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium. Pitmasters from across the country traveled to KC to show off their craft. "There's nothing better in this world than to have folks come together and eat," said Brian Wahby, who does public relations for the event.


Olathe firefighters investigate cause of deadly fire

Olathe firefighters are working to figure out what started a deadly fire late Friday night.They were called to a home on West 163rd Street off Ridgeview Road just before midnight Friday.Firefighters say a woman died in the fire, but they haven't released her name. No other injuries were reported.Investigators are still working to determine the cause.

Fallen Independence officer added to Missouri Law Enforcement Memorial

An Independence police officer killed in the line of duty was honored at Missouri's annual Law Enforcement Memorial Service Saturday. Officer Blaize Madrid-Evans was among the 11 officers in Missouri who made the ultimate sacrifice in 2021. Four officers whose previous line of duty deaths were confirmed were also added to the memorial.

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - A Kansas City-area mom is counting her blessings as she anticipates Mother's Day after giving birth to twin "micro-preemies." Baby girls Lola and Nala were born at 22 and a half weeks. Jamesia Donato said she didn't think she would get to celebrate her first Mother's Day.

Two plain glass windows are broken open. The large stained glass window is broken in places, but the rest of the windows were spared and that, says the pastor, is a blessing.
