Kansas City Midterm Political Theater: Now Hiring 10K Protesters!!!

We tried AND FAILED to politely ignore a recent bit of propaganda regarding a local "movement" that's currently recruiting more foot soldiers as we slouch toward election season.

To wit and, as always, with an unhealthy serving of snark . . .

KANSAS CITY'S FAVORITE SOCIAL JUSTICE GROUPS ARE NOW HIRING 10,000 PROTESTERS TO HELP DISTRACT FROM WORSENING INFLATION AND FAILED FOREIGN POLICY!!!

The notice is from KC Tenants and rather than link to a paywall site, we want to help our fellow bloggers and take a peek at a newish progressive outlet that seem exceptionally militant about all things including the use of 72-point-type and run-on sentences . . . Check-it . . .

After Historic Victories, KC Tenants Expects 10,000 Members by End of Year

KC Tenants has launched their biggest campaign yet-a citywide tenant's union. A sea of yellow gathered outside Trinity United Methodist on Saturday afternoon to hear from those on the frontlines of KC's historic wins in housing. Led by longtime leader Maya Neal, the event kicked off with a performance by Center High School's Marching Yellow Jackets.

From what we've seen . . . The pay might be anywhere betwixt $15 per hour OR low six figures for those who can turn their "advocacy" into a social justice gig.

Accordingly . . . Here's an unspoken truism that's widely known . . .

Housing protesters might also fight for fair wages and unionization against fast food companies . . .

Some of these very same protesters are also saving the planet . . .

And yes, of course . . . Housing is the biggest concern and the largest contingent of local protesters . . .

Further reading fun . . . Here's today's headline on this protest effort that also shows more than a bit of cross-pollination amongst protesters . . .

Kansas City promised legal help for tenants facing eviction, but it keeps missing key deadlines

Kansas City resident Ruby Watson was excited when the City Council passed a law in December guaranteeing an attorney to any tenant in eviction court. "It's important because oftentimes tenants, first of all, can't afford an attorney, which is probably why they were being evicted in the first place," Watson said.

So what's the big secret . . .

FOR THOSE OF US WHO LOOK CLOSELY . . . MOST OF THESE KANSAS CITY SOCIAL JUSTICE WARRIORS ARE PRETTY MUCH THE SAME GROUP WHO JUST SWITCH T-SHIRTS SOMETIMES!!!

Of course there's nothing wrong this protesting on several fronts and it's just a fun fact that has been previously unmentioned.

Moreover . . .

We appreciate KC Tenants because they've included quite a few protesters who have special needs amongst their ranks.

A job is a job and there's certainly no shame in getting paid to hold a sign . . . No matter how ridiculous or economically implausible.

Nevertheless . . . Let's make it plain . . .

PAYING KANSAS CITY PROTESTER FOOT SOLDIERS AMID AMERICAN ECONOMIC TURMOIL IS SOMETHING VERY DIFFERENT THAN GRASSROOTS ACTIVISM!!!

To be clear . . . Yes, there are many true believers out there who protest for free and might really believe in whatever progressive cause that comes with a cool t-shirt.

But it's also important to note that these protest "movements" have substantial infrastructure with national connections and support from donors and political action committees.

And so . . .

Whilst protest has a proud and silly history in the U.S., it's not always representative of popular opinion.

Whilst we respect anybody willing to get off of the couch and into the street . . .

In service of journalism (lulz) we merely want to point that this "now hiring" notice from activists reveals that progressives are in the midst of the American labor shortage just like everybody else.

Developing . . .
