Northbound I-49 back open after morning shooting, investigators say victim was chasing stolen vehicle before incident

A man is in critical condition after a shooting investigation on a Kansas City-area interstate Thursday morning. Officers were called to the northbound lanes of I-49 just before eastbound I-470 at 10:55 a.m. to investigate a reported shooting.Police said a man was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.


Independence police investigating possible road rage shooting

Police in Independence are investigating a shooting Thursday afternoon in the 200 block of S. Northern Boulevard.Authorities said officers were called to the area at about 2:30 p.m. on the report of a shooting. As officers were on their way to the scene, both people believed to be involved left the area in vehicles.

TOPEKA, Kansas - A foster child was found dead last month in an empty lot in Kansas City, Kansas, days after running away from foster care, The Kansas City Star reported. The child, 15-year-old Ace Scott, ran from a Cornerstones of Care Office in mid-April.

OP 100/Police Standoff

This afternoon just before 3pm, officers were called to a neighborhood just west of NW 72nd St/9 Highway in regard to an aggravated assault.  Officers were given information in regard to shots being fired at three victims, none of the victims suffered any injuries.  A witness provided suspect information which led officers to a residence in the 7200 block of N Hemple Ave.  Just before 4:15pm, officers called a police standoff/OP 100 in order to bring tactical resources to the scene.

Negotiators began attempting to contact the parties inside the residence.  Shortly after, three subjects cooperated and exited the residence.  They were taken into custody without incident.
