A bit of hipster activism offers yet another excuse to give to wife (or your mom - For basement dwellers) as to why the lawn hasn't yet been mowed . . .

ECO-ACTIVISTS ADVISE AGAINST MOWING THE LAWN IN MAY!!!

It's a sketchy proposition that is counterintuitive for every dude over the age of 35 . . . But apparently, this bit of Springtime laziness will save the planet.

The plight of pollinators has inspired No Mow May, a grassroots movement started by Bee City USA, which encourages folks to let their lawns briefly go untamed in order to support the bees, butterflies and moths vital to pollination.

Bees and other pollinators are a crucial part of the food system. In early spring flowering, weeds – regularly decapitated by lawnmower blades – are some of their prime food sources.

Bee City USA’s Laura Rost said that as urban areas are increasingly dominated by concrete and monoculture lawns, it becomes more important to create pollinator friendly spaces.

Kansas Citians are letting lawns grow wild during 'No Mow May' to help save bees

Local homeowners have taken up the cause of No Mow May, which encourages people to temporarily pause their lawn-mowing in order to support the bees, butterflies and moths vital to pollination. In early spring, weeds are some of their prime food sources.
