Kansas City 2022 Homicide #62: Gunfire Takes Woman's Life on Linwood

Tonight Kansas City police respond to a deadly shooting and continue to investigate an urban core crime scene into the early morning hours.

Again, this is the 62 homicide so far this year compared to 58 at this time last year and 65 in 2020 -- The two deadliest years in KCMO history respectively.

Here is the report . . .

Homicide 1200 block of Linwood

Tonight about 10:45 pm officers at the Central Patrol Division station heard the sound of gunfire outside the station near the front.

They responded out front to investigate and located a vehicle that had crashed into the neighboring apartment parking lot (1224 Linwood).

Inside the vehicle officers located an adult female, unresponsive, who appeared to have been shot. Officers also located a young juvenile inside the vehicle uninjured.

EMS responded as well and declared the female deceased at the scene.

Officers in the area detained one person nearby for further investigation. Detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence.

1 dead in Thursday night homicide in KCMO

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - One person died in a shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, on Thursday night. Police responded to the shooting at 1200 Linwood Boulevard just before 11 p.m. When officers arrived, they found the victim. No other information surrounding the shooting was immediately available.


Woman found dead after being shot near police station

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A woman was found dead after shots were heard next to the Kansas City Police Department's Central Patrol Division station late Thursday night. According to police, officers at the station heard the sound of gunshots outside in front of the building at about 10:45 p.m.
