Kansas City 2022 Homicide #59: Deadly Gunfire Amid Standoff

Police continue to investigate this afternoon tragedy and dangerous situation for neighbors.

Homicide 34 and Forest/ OP 100

This afternoon at approximately 3:15 PM, officers were dispatched on a shooting in the 3400 block of Forest. Upon arrival they found an adult male victim who had been shot. EMS responded and pronounced him deceased.

Based on information immediately obtained at the scene, It is believed that a suspect of this homicide may be inside of a residence in the 3400 block of Forest.

An Operation 100 has been called at this time. Tactical units and negotiators have responded and are working to keep everyone safe and end this situation peacefully.

Prior to the Operation 100 being called, a subject of interest was taken into custody nearby. Detectives have responded and are working to identify witnesses and gather information.

Kansas City, Missouri police say they've surrounded a home in connection with a homicide late Thursday afternoon near 34th Street and Forest Avenue in Midtown. Authorities said they were called about 3:15 p.m. to the area on a reported shooting. Police said when officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Officers with the Kansas City Police Department are involved in a standoff after responding to a deadly shooting. Police reported the incident at approximately 3:15 p.m. near 34th Street and Forest Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot. He was pronounced deceased.
