LAST CHANCE for 3rd Stimulus Payment and Expanded Child Tax Credit

Hello Neighbor,

I am reaching out because I wanted to let you know that the federal tax filing deadline -- this Monday, April 18 -- is the last chance to claim two types of federal payments provided by the American Rescue Plan Act, which I was proud to support. These payments include:

*A third Economic Impact Payment ("stimulus payment") of up to $1,400 per person for those who have not yet received it. See this news story for more details and find more information from the IRS on how to claim your 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit here.

*The remaining six months' worth of the expanded Child Tax Credit, which can amount to up to $300 per month, per child. Click here for more information on eligibility and how to ensure you receive your Child Tax Credit. I support making this expansion of the Child Tax Credit permanent, but in the short term, I want to make sure that everyone who qualifies receives their payments.

The IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs offer free basic tax return preparation to qualified individuals. To locate the nearest VITA or TCE site near you, use the VITA Locator Tool or call 800-906-9887.
