Thankfully, it has been somewhat peaceful over the past few days. We don't expect that to continue once the weather FINALLY warms up.
But we'll enjoy it for now as we notice rising violence in the exurbs.

New Independence mayor elect discusses plans to clean up city
INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The City of Independence is getting a new mayor. It comes at a time when the suburb is dealing with a police department overtime scandal. Missouri State Representative Rory Rowland won a convincing victory Tuesday night, weeks after current Mayor Eileen Wier announced she would not campaign for re-election.
Kansas City police investigate after pedestrian hit by vehicle on city's east side
SOURCE: KMBC Kansas City police said they are investigating a crash Wednesday afternoon involving a vehicle and a pedestrian.Police said officers were called at 3:30 p.m. to Truman Road and Cleveland Avenue.Authorities said the person who was hit suffered life-threatening injuries.The driver remained at the scene.No other details have been released.
Blue Springs woman dies days after 'suspicious' house fire

Merriam PD: 2 people injured in weekend shooting on Shawnee Mission Parkway
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Merriam police are still investigating a shooting that occurred between 10 and 10:30 p.m. on Saturday on Shawnee Mission Parkway. Police released new details about the shooting on Thursday. A spokesperson for the city of Merriam said that the shots were fired out of a green Dodge Challenger, pictured above, on the on-ramp to northbound Interstate 35.
Man who killed father, WyCo Sheriff's captain, found guilty
KANSAS CITY, Kan. - On March 31, a jury found the man who shot and killed his father, a captain with the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office, guilty. Zachary Arnold was found guilty for involuntary manslaughter for the shooting death of 25-year sheriff's office veteran Chris Arnold.
Prosecutors recommend prison for Jackson County jail officer who smuggled drugs to inmates
Prosecutors are recommending that a Jackson County corrections officer who admitted he bought drugs from an undercover cop and brought contraband into the jail on other occasions should spend 16 months in federal prison. Daniel Coach, 27, pleaded guilty in December to a single felony count of conspiracy from a federal indictment handed down in March 2021.
Man reunited with family after wrongful arrest in Wyandotte County
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A man is back in the arms of his family after three days following his wrongful arrest by the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office on Monday. Earvin Lee Nunnally was booked into the Wyandotte County Jail Monday afternoon, charges have been dropped against him.
KC man looking for help after homeless friend's wheelchair stolen
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A man in Kansas City's Historic Northeast said his wheelchair was stolen and now his friend is asking the community for help. Samuel Cole, 37, lost his leg around a year ago when he was shot in the leg by a friend.
