Man charged in fatal shooting outside KCMO gas station

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A 30-year-old Kansas City, Missouri, man is accused in the April 15 shooting death of a man outside a gas station. Jackson County Prosecutors charged Justin Owens-Harrell with involuntary manslaughter, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm in the death of 33-year-old Skyler Smith.

Independence police say grenade shell found near Truman Road, Sterling Avenue

SOURCE: KMBC Independence police said the shell of a grenade was found Tuesday evening near Truman Road and Sterling Avenue.Authorities said the bomb squad determined the device was only the the hull of a Mark II grenade. Police said it did not have a firing mechanism and was safely removed by the bomb techs.

Kansas City man, woman charged in 18-month-old's stabbing

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City man and woman are charged in connection with the stabbing of an 18-month-old boy. Jackson County Prosecutors charged Anthony N. Beighley-Beck, 24, with first-degree assault and armed criminal action. Tabatha S. Ong is charged with child endangerment.

2 arrested for murder in killing of Warrensburg man

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two people have been arrested and charged with murder in the April 17 shooting death of a 47-year-old man in rural Johnson County, Missouri. Law enforcement responded Sunday to the 100 block of Southeast 250 Road in rural Warrensburg after a report of multiple gun shots.

Family relieved wife of Kansas City homicide victim charged

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas City woman is facing charges after being accused of killing her wife. Jenna Nava was killed at the end of January. The Kansas City, Missouri Police Department said Makayla Smith, 30, shot and killed her wife, Jenna Nava, 35, at close range while Nava's daughters were close by.
