Downtown Kansas City Stadium Question: What About Off-Season?!?

The prospect of a Downtown Kansas City baseball stadium is becoming increasingly likely despite the overwhelming and costly burden threatening taxpayers.

To be fair, there are some local reporters asking great questions.

For instance . . . Conservative talker Pete Mundo did an EXCELLENT job asking questions of the Royals front office on opening day.

However, right now we want to share a gem of question and a great bit of writing from one of our readers.

Downtown KCMO Stadium: Unproductive Use

Valuable downtown real estate would have to be used for the stadium.

Discounting for a moment the horrendous traffic problems generated by funneling thousands into that small area for each game, let’s consider the true value.

From October 1 to April 1 the stadium is empty.  Nada. Zilch.

Then in April the team begins playing their 162 games.

For 81 of those games the stadium is empty.  Nada. Zilch.

Tell me what kind of economic engine is that?  Better to have development that is performing all the time.
