Broke-Ass Kansas City Hotel Supports Dowtown South Loop Lid?!?

A recent construction review tidbit deserves attention because it reveals a truism that local media have neglected to report . . .

The effort to put green space over I-670 is UNDER-CAPITALIZED and depends completely of federal money that isn't likely now that "Build Back Better" is busted.

Translation . . .

DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY CHEERLEADERS DON'T HAVE THE CASH TO BUILD THE SOUTH LOOP LID!!!

Of course we have a very practical bit of proof to back up this claim . . .

The BROKE-ASS DOWNTOWN CONVENTION HOTEL is supporting the effort.

This is the same hotel that started out owing Kansas City about 35 MILLION BUCKS and that fortune may have leveled up to more than 50 ROCKS IN CASH.

This is the same hotel that was forced layoff workers during the pandemic and still offers cut rate deals to lure guests back . . .

Here's a telling line that should offer a hint that this project is just smoke and mirrors . . .

"This initial phase could cost anywhere between $2million and $4million and has already been paid for by local property owners and other stakeholders. Loews Hotels & Co., has also offered financial support for planning the project."

South Loop Link Project to be Developed in Kansas city

Kansas City officials have revealed plans for a $160 million South Loop Link project, which will create a deck over a four-block-long section, along Interstate 670 from Wyandotte Street to Grand Boulevard. The project is intended to redevelop the sunken freeway built in the 1960s, which now creates a divide between the midtown and downtown areas.
