Here's an important tidbit that might change the course of local history and it comes courtesy of our blog community . . .
REPUBLICAN THERESA GALVIN LAUNCHED HER CAMPAIGN FOR JACKSON COUNTY EXECUTIVE TODAY!!!
For the record . . .
There hasn't been a Republican Exec at the Courthouse in the modern era. I'm pretty sure there were still horses on some KCMO roads the last time the GOP was atop of Jackson County government.
However . . .
Record inflation, high gas prices and a "red wave" of frustrate voters might be setting the stage for something historic in local government.
Moreover . . .
Widespread concern over rising property taxes threaten to shift mainstream voter support against baseball legend and executive Frank White.
Wait . . . There's more . . .
Legislator Galvin is a credible candidate. She has standing amongst local Republicans and a very good base of support in her home district.
To make it to the general election she'll have to overcome tax fighter Preston Smith and former County insider Jason Pearson.
However . . .
Legislator Galvin is an exceptionally smart person. She speaks three languages, has risen as a senior member of the Legislature and led opposition against the Executive and some of his more brazen culture war legislation. For instance, she successfully called for a vote to KEEP ANDREW JACKSON STATUES that adorn county government which met with overwhelming voter support . . . We expect that this symbolic gesture will be the crux of Exec Frank White's campaign that focuses on culture war rather than financial issues that impact most voters.
