OLATHE EAST AFTERMATH: BALLER PRIVILEGE BACKFIRED?!?

Today Olathe East students returned to school and local media stressed happy news rather than offering any real insight into the circumstances surrounding an ADULT who is now confronted with serious school shooting charges.

A media highlight that stands out in this discussion, even if it has been buried . . .

"Online records show he has a previous conviction for aggravated robbery. His attorney in that case declined to comment."

Credit to local sports talker KK who offered his hot take . . .

"The 18 year old that took a gun to Olathe East and shot a police officer and Athletic Director had a serious, prior criminal conviction.  So why was he even allowed in school, and how in the world was he allowed to participate in sports?"

Our blog community talked about this over the weekend and here's a a comment that stands out amid all the chatter . . .

"(ALLEGED) Shooter completed 6 months probation in December 2020 for an aggravated robbery.

"Yet, he was a member of the Olathe East HS football team.

"This is exactly how some criminal professional athletes get started. Because they have desired athletic skills, high schools and universities bend the rules, pamper them, and enable their bad behavior. You see the results every year in the NFL."

Accordingly, this provides a BETTER talking point than so much anti-gun chatter that doesn't really offer a solution without Constitutional implications.

Meanwhile, schools don't need sketchy legislation to examine the privileges that talented athletes enjoy over other students.
