Northeast Kansas City Cliff Drive Fights Fate As Perilous Homeless Trash Dump

This battle has been raging for YEARS in Northeast Kansas City. 

We noted some of the back & forth recently in a debate that pits longtime residents against new money and homeless campers.

Here are the basics of the struggle and then STELLAR reporting from a community newspaper . . . 

"Cliff Drive, which stretches along the northern border of Historic Northeast through Kessler Park, is closed to vehicular traffic. However, that did not solve the chronic vandalism and illegal dumping, and it has become a refuge for many hoping to avoid the public eye."

Combatting litter along Cliff Drive

Following attempts by neighbors to get the Kansas City Park and Recreation Department to address a homeless camp just inside Gate One of Cliff Drive, a comprehensive clean up strategy was created last week.
