KANSAS CITY POLICE CHIEF SMITH ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT!!!

His tenure was one of the most divisive in recent history and now it's complete.

This morning's most important news from the top cop . . .

Kansas City Police Chief Rick Smith announced he is retiring April 22, 2022.

Consider . . .

The newspaper and Mayor Q attempted to force him out by way of Turkey Day palace coup.

Here's a peek at the newspaper edition that marked the downfall of local print journalism . . .

Again, we note that picking your own retirement date several months after critics claim you were "ousted" doesn't really suggest that a leader was "forced" from any given position. To be fair, there's not that many people who bother to pick up scraps of paper on convenience store floors who can argue to the contrary.

Anyhoo, expect a great deal of insults against the Chief as he exits from the same political opponents who lost this year's budget battle.

Here's the other side of the story . . .

In a prepared statement, Smith said he came to Kansas City as an officer from Minneapolis, MN in 1987, settling here and raising his family in Kansas City.

“I am proud of all the members of this department I have served with over the years who have worked tirelessly to make KCPD great,” Smith said in a news release. “I am honored to have served the citizens of Kansas City for more than 34 years.”
