Kansas City Plans Homeless Village At Polluted Municipal Farm

We can pretend that elected leaders in Kansas City care about the plight of the homeless OR we can look at all of their misadventures and realize that most of their work is haphazard garbage that's mostly devised to garner worthless social media likes, shares & love.

To wit . . .

THE NEW PLAN FOR KANSAS CITY'S HOMELESS IS TO SEND THEM TO THE MUNICIPAL FARM!!!

Sadly, it's not even as fun as sending them to Dr. Phil's ranch . . .

Here's the sketch of a bad idea from council lady Robinson . . .

RESOLUTION #220201 - Directing the City Manager to devise a feasibility assessment and a funding, implementation and operating plan for a pallet shelter home project for the houseless to be installed at the Municipal Farm and report back to the Council in 14 days.

I feel like TKC should get paid for doing work for 12th & Oak and some lucky consultant will probably bill 200 bucks an hour for doing a simple google search . . . Check this not-so-fun fact . . .

MANY PARTS OF KANSAS CITY'S MUNICIPAL FARM REMAIN POLLUTED AND UNSUITABLE FOR HOUSING!!!

A quick quote from BNIM proves our point . . .

"The Municipal Farm site is a historic and environmental landmark in Kansas City, but over the years neglect and possible contamination has left the site largely abandoned and environmentally damaged. Today, the site is home to a diverse array of conditions, including waterways, wetlands, wooded areas, dramatic topography and scattered development."

To be fair, there have been some worthwhile conservation efforts over the years . . .

"Today, the storied Municipal Farm site is nestled in the heart of Kansas City between the Kansas City Zoo, Swope Park and Truman Sports Complex (home to both the Super Bowl and World Series-winning Chiefs and Royals). Most of the historic buildings on the site have been demolished, and only the National Guard, public works and water station remain. But the century of varied use left its mark. Due to the potential presence of hazardous substances, the municipal farm received yet another designation—as a brownfield site."

Again, there has been some progress with the restoration but as late as 2019 KCMO was still trying to find money for more comprehensive cleanup.

Accordingly . . .

KANSAS CITY PLANS TO PUT DUMP THE HOMELESS IN A POLLUTED SITE REVEAL THAT THEY'RE STILL NOT SERIOUS ABOUT ADDRESSING THIS CRISIS THAT'S ONLY GETTING WORSE!!!

As the American economy falters under the weight of record setting gas prices and help from the government becomes increasingly scarce . . . Some real leadership is required beyond treating desperate people like a pet cause.
