Kansas City 2022 Homicide #29: Deadly Gas Station Gunfire Near Bannister Road

At the outset of this week the local homicide count continues to keep pace with record breaking numbers.

Here's the first latest . . .

"Police were called to the Phillips 66 station near Bannister and James A. Reed roads just after 1 p.m. Monday. Officers found one person with life-threatening injuries. The victim later died from their injuries at a local hospital."

Homicide 8100 block of Bannister

This afternoon just after 1pm officers were dispatched to the 8100 block of Bannister Rd on a shooting call. 

On arrival officers were directed to a vehicle in the convenience store/gas station parking lot, inside that vehicle officers located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive.

Officers summoned EMS to the scene who transported the victim to the hospital where he was declared deceased.

Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting occurred in the business parking lot when an unknown suspect shot the victim near the vehicle. The suspect then left the scene in an unknown direction.

Detectives and crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence and canvassing for any potential witnesses.

Both Bannister Road and James A Reed road are well traveled this time of day and detectives are hopeful that someone heard or saw something that will give them some indication of what led up to the shooting.

One person killed at gas station in south Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Kansas City police are investigating a homicide Monday afternoon after one person was found shot at a gas station. Police were called to the Phillips 66 station near Bannister and James A. Reed roads just after 1 p.m. Monday. Officers found one person with life-threatening injuries.
