Tonight a somewhat peaceful suburb suffered a horrific episode of violence.

At the scene officers found a 47-year-old male victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has not been identified. Police said this is being investigated as a homicide. The last reported homicide in Blue Springs was in February 2021.

Police in Blue Springs are investigating a fatal shooting Thursday evening in the 100 block of Southwest Gladstone Drive.Police said officers were called at 5:45 p.m. to a home on a shooting.Authorities said a 47-year-old man was killed.No other details were released.
