KCPD Reports Officer's Tragic Suicide

Right now we take a moment of pause for real news and an important reminder that the people who protect Kansas City's streets are only human and some of them suffer the same problems that afflict so many residents.

A reminder for anyone who needs help . . .

Here's the report . . .

Media Release

It is with heavy hearts we have to report the tragic loss of one of our own, who died by suicide early this morning.

He was a dedicated officer who served our department for over 10 years and was assigned to the Patrol Bureau.  He was off-duty at the time of his death.

During these times, we are reminded of the importance of taking care of ourselves and one another.

The department offers and encourages the use of resources for members to include the EAP, FOP, Peer Support, police chaplains and access to the Wellness Unit.

Please keep our officer’s family and our department in your thoughts and prayers.  We ask you to please respect the family’s privacy at this difficult time.
