The city of Independence on Friday confirmed to KMBC 9 Investigates there are no construction permits on file for work done at Independence Police Department headquarters for the past couple of years.The new information came from a records request by KMBC after the city announced on Thursday a master police officer worked 2,800 hours of overtime for "construction-related" work around the building in 2021, according to city officials.City Manager Zach Walker launched an outside investigation into the officer's use of overtime after a whistleblower approached city officials with a tip.
