Even in the dead of winter, local violence continues to escalate.
This latest killing puts Kansas City 4 homicides ahead of last year's pace.

Homicide 7200 Block E 17th St
Tonight just before 9:30p officers were Dispatched to the area of 17th and Crystal on a shooting call.
The caller saw a vehicle in a parking lot just off the road and believed it may be stuck. They stopped to assist but then realized the occupant in the vehicle was unresponsive. They then called police.
On arrival officers were directed to the vehicle and located the victim, an adult male, inside the vehicle unresponsive. He appeared to have been shot. Officers summoned EMS and they declared the victim deceased here at the scene.
Detectives are canvassing for witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing the evidence to hopefully give detectives an idea of what led up to the shooting.
