SHOW-ME REMOTE WORK EARNINGS TAX REFUNDS NUKED!!!

A few local social media complainers have noticed that KCMO isn't refunding earnings taxes.

Less then an hour ago their worst suspicions were confirmed . . .

THE STL & KCMO FIGHT TO KEEP EARNINGS TAX FROM REMOTE WORKERS REMAINS IN PLAY AND JUST EARNED AN EPIC VICTORY!!!

Here are the basics that won't please our suburban friends one bit . . .

Judge throws out most of St. Louis earnings tax lawsuit

The tragic deets . . .

A judge has thrown out most of a lawsuit that seeks refunds of St. Louis city earnings tax payments for people who began working remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic starting in early 2020.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that St. Louis Circuit Judge Christopher McGraugh’s ruling on Monday was a victory for the city. The 1% earnings charged to city residents and nonresidents who work in the city generated about $180 million in 2020.

Just to answer your question before you ask . . .

Yes, this does apply to Kansas City as well.

Even worse . . .

KCMO loves the earnings tax and approved it by more than a 50 point margin last time around.

And so . . .

Another illusion of COVID has been busted . . .

Remote work & telecommuting still won't save workers from the clutches of KCMO taxation if their bosses are based within city limits.

Developing . . .
