We didn't want to cover this and don't really want to spend much time on it but there's no denying that this bit of nitpicking is part of the local discourse . . .
Here's the sitch . . .
Yesterday morning our blog community shared a tidbit about former SecState Mike Pompeo's dramatic weight loss. Again, it's not really important and just one of those stories for people to scroll through . . .
However, the so-called paper of record used the tale as an excuse to partake in a bit of pointless partisan pandering on the topic of extra pounds.
Their take for those who haven't seen it already . . .
OPINION AND COMMENTARY We asked weight loss experts, and people who have lost large amounts of weight themselves, whether it's possible to lose 90 pounds in six months simply by eating better and hitting a humble home gym for half an hour five or six times a week. Their response?
Again, we thought it was better to ignore the whole thing and it's not something that even a blogger should consider a priority . . . Close readers said different . . .
To wit . . .
TKC HAS "ENJOYED" MORE THAN HALF A DOZEN E-MAILS CALLING OUT THE STAR FOR ATTACKING POMPEO'S WEIGHT LOSS!!!
Here's a sample . . .
"What a horrible take from our newspaper. They should be ashamed. This is the most petty kind of editorializing I've ever seen. We have a mayor that's wrecking the city, a homeless crisis and a crime problem that's just going to be worse this year but they spend 1000 words talking about a politician's waistline just because he might be running for President."
That was the best take and we'll leave it to Saturday readers . . .
