Desperate and repeated pleading with the public didn't seem to dissuade locals from shooting into the air with reckless abandon.

"Between 6 p.m. on December 31, 2021 through 6 a.m. on January 1, 2022 there were 259 Sounds of Shots calls for service city wide, 207 of which were in the city’s urban core patrol zones, Metro, Central and East. ShotSpotter recorded 174 incidents, totaling 1,162 rounds recorded."

2 shot, property damaged in KCMO New Year's Eve celebratory gunfire

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department has reported that two people were shot and 11 properties damaged, including one police vehicle, in celebratory gunfire on New Year's Eve. However, the department also said they had reason to believe fewer incidents of celebratory gunfire were recorded this year than last.
