The former Macy's in The Shops of Prairie Village will house Genesis Health Clubs. Onelife Fitness had plans to open its second Kansas City location at 4000 W. 71st St., where Macy's operated until its closing in early 2020. Now, Wichita-based Genesis Health Clubs will pick up where Onelife left off with the location.

Missouri recorded more than 1,000 traffic deaths in 2021

For the first time since 2006, more than 1,000 people died in traffic crashes last year in Missouri, the state transportation department said.Preliminary data showed 1,007 people were killed in crashes last year, a 2% increase over 2020 and the second consecutive year fatalities increased after more than a decade of declining, the Missouri Department of Transportation said in a news release.Lack of seat belts, cell phone use while driving and speeding were significant factors in the deaths, the department said.Data showed about two-thirds of the people who died on the state's roads were not wearing seat belts.

LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -- Macy's has announced it will be closing its Lee's Summit location in 2022. That store is located at 900 NW Blue Parkway. The company will close seven other stores across the county. According a document on Macy's corporate site, the closing will happen in the first quarter of 2022.
