Kansas City police investigating after 1 critically injured in shooting

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Police in Kansas City, Missouri, are investigating after one person was critically injured in a shooting on Tuesday night. Officers responded to the area of east 27th Street and Prospect Avenue at around 6:30 p.m. There they located the victim who was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.


Authorities looking for stolen Charger in connection with fatal shooting on Amtrak train

LEE'S SUMMIT, MO (KCTV) -- The authorities are looking for a stolen vehicle that they believe could be connected to the fatal shooting on an Amtrak train that happened last Friday. The Lee's Summit Police Department is looking for a stolen, gray 2015 Dodge Charger sedan.


Prosecutor: No charges in Black Kansas teen's custody death

A Kansas prosecutor said Tuesday that he won't file criminal charges over the death of a Black 17-year-old who became unresponsive while being restrained facedown for more than 30 minutes following an altercation with staff at a Wichita juvenile center in September.


KCK man charged in woman's fatal beating, assault of 4-year-old child

Jackson County prosecutors announced Tuesday that a Kansas City, Kansas man has been charged in the fatal beating of a woman and the assault of a 4-year-old.Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said that Jose E. Escalante-Corchado, 29, was charged with first-degree murder, assault, two counts of armed criminal action and endangering the welfare of a child.Kansas City police were called about 5:45 p.m.

Escalante-Corchado was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.


Man charged in connection with woman's death, 4-year-old's hospitalization

JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -- A man is facing several charges after a woman was found dead and her daughter was hospitalized for critical injuries this weekend. According to the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, 29-year-old Jose E. Escalante-Corchado of KCK has been charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, two counts of armed criminal action, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.


Kevin Strickland, released from prison 43 years after wrongful conviction, suing alleging poor medical care

A Kansas City, Missouri, man recently released from prison 43 years after a wrongful conviction has filed a lawsuit alleging poor medical care behind bars left him dependent on a wheelchair. Kevin Strickland and his attorneys have filed a lawsuit against Corizon LLC, the company contracted to handle medical care for the Missouri Department of Corrections.
