Kansas City 2022 Homicide #13: Victim Shot Dead At Residence

This is the 2nd homicide in the past 24 hours and a hint, amid our dark winter, that we've got a tough year ahead.

Unofficially, this latest killing puts us only one murder behind a record setting pace that we reached during in 2020. In January of that year there were around 14 killings by this date.

Accordingly, here's the first report . . .

Homicide 3100 block of Elmwood

This morning around 4:15 AM officers were dispatched to a residence in the 3100 block of Elmwood on a shooting. Upon arrival they found an adult male inside the residence who had been shot. EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased. We do not have any suspect information at this time.

Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene for evidence.
