Police Commish Approves KCPD Pay Increases

After a deadly start to this month, local politicos have been inspired to approve more money for cops. 

Here's good news regarding a longstanding complaint . . .

"The news comes after the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners met to approve the pay increases Tuesday morning. Commissioners approved $2.6 million for raises."

"This will touch everybody," said Police Chief Rick Smith. 

Thankfully, KMBC provides a bit of context . . .

"The passage of two ordinances by the city council earlier this year that would have reallocated more than $42 million of KCPD's budget for community programs and crime prevention efforts kicked off a back-and-forth legal battle between the police board and the city council."

KCPD employees to get a pay raise at the start of the new year

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Kansas City, Missouri, Board of Police Commissioners approved a motion to raise pay for Kansas City Police Department employees on Tuesday. The pay raise will come into effect in January 2022, according to KSHB 41 News reporter Andres Gutierrez. KCPD has struggled with staffing and facing a significant shortage of officers.
