Belden’s personal physician had approved treatment of COVID-19 with ivermectin after he was diagnosed in November. He used a private supply that belonged to his mother . . .

But Olathe Medical Center stopped treatment with ivermectin — an anti-parasitic most often used to treat heartworm in livestock — after he was admitted Nov. 27 through the emergency room.

COVID-19 patient whose family sued Olathe Medical Center over ivermectin treatment dies

Deke Belden, the man whose mother sued Olathe Medical Center to compel the hospital to treat him with ivermectin, died Dec. 13 from COVID-19 complications. The 41-year-old had been hospitalized since Nov. 27 and was sedated for treatment of pneumonia related to a COVID-19 infection.
