Kansas City South Side Bio Lab Development Questioned

This topic came up a while ago but we've been thinking about it lately given the current . . . Situation.

Accordingly, here's the word from a local tax watchdog group . . .

"A $1.3 billion biotech research park, near residential areas, includes lab space and offices built on a speculative basis. The 15-year project promises 4,000 jobs. We do not yet have information on project accountability or whether performance will be monitored . . ."

Glade developer talks Center of Excellence, $5B master plan for life sciences

Two life science and agribusiness oriented projects are intended as the chemical catalyst for a larger $5 billion mixed-use development in south Kansas City. Jim Stowers III, owner of Oxford Cos. LLC, and Ryan Cos. anticipate 2022 groundbreakings on a 120,000-square-foot life science and office building and a 100,000-square-foot commercial greenhouse and farmer's market on 325 acres northwest of Interstate 435 and 87th Street.


Made in The Glade: A "city within the city" is being built in south KC with hopes of advancing the bioscience world

As people begin to make holiday plans to return home to the community they grew up in, a new future (and futuristic) community is being created in south Kansas City. The Glade, promoted as a "city within a city," is a 325-acre community located between 71 Hwy and I-435 on 87th St., directly west of Cerner's Innovation Campus.
