Kansas City Slicing Up Northland To Stop GOP Advancement

The official story of redistricting is nothing more than a cheaply manufactured political farce.

But before we get started, he's a glimpse at how the Northland will be chopped up . . .

"Under the commission’s proposed map, the 1st District would change to encompass the neighborhoods north of Barry Road until Kansas City’s northern boundary. The 2nd District would include all neighborhoods south of Barry Road down to the Missouri River, except for one area that will be part of the 4th District. Both proposed districts would include parts of Clay and Platte counties. The new map would also put parts of school districts into different council districts."

What does this mean?!?!

CITY HALL HOPES TO CURB POPULATION GAINS AND MORE REPUBLICAN VOTING POWER BY TURNING NORTHLAND VOTING UPSIDE DOWN!!!

Don't mistake our bold type for outrage . . . It only frustrates us that this fact of life is ignored or disregard entirely.

Gerrymandering/redistricting is a fact of life and it's never pretty.

But let's not pretend the practice isn't part of both the Republican & Democratic Party playbook.

The cover story for this power move is 'economic representation' which is a nice catchphrase invented by geniuses at 12th & Oak but not officially a redistricting requirement.

On the bright side, this move could put council dude Kevin O'Neill out of a job . . . So all of this might be worth it even if IT'S A FACT THAT MOST NORTHLAND VOTERS HATE THIS PLAN.
