Kansas City Police Investigate Suspicious Death & Request TIPS From Community


They're not calling his a homicide yet but but the circumstances of the investigation seem to indicate as much.

If the investigation reveals that this is, in fact, the latest local killing, it would put the KCMO homicide count at 152 and push us closer to an all-time monthly murder record.

The record number of homicides for one month is 20 set in August 2008. We're 7-8 murders from passing that tragic milestone.

Suspicious death: 11200 block of E. 47th Terrace

Today at 2:45 PM officers were dispatched to the area of 47th Terrace and Sterling in regard to a dead body. Upon arrival they made contact with calling parties who stated they found a dead body inside of a residence. Officers entered the residence and found a deceased person. We do not have any victim details at this time. We do not have any information in regard to specific injuries, but due to circumstances at the scene this is being investigated as a suspicious death. There is no suspect information and we are asking for the public's help.

Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene. If you wish to remain anonymous you can call the TIPS hotline at 474-TIPS, with up to a $25,000 reward for an arrest in this case.
