Kansas City P&L District 'Pride Crosswalk' Downplayed?!?!

This week there was a major milestone for Kansas City nightlife that was mostly ignored by mainstream local media.

For those who didn't see it and don't have interesting social media friends . . .

KANSAS CITY'S P&L DISTRICT DEBUTED A NEW 'PRIDE CROSSWALK' TO WELCOME DENIZENS OF THE LGBT COMMUNITY!!!

Given the downward spiral of live entertainment and movie theaters as the pandemic persists . . . Welcoming everyone and anyone is a must.

However . . .

Despite a great deal of social media fan fare we didn't see so much as a peep from local news.

The silence speaks volumes when considering . . .

- Over the past 25 years Kansas City has invested about a BILLION BUCKS worth of subsidy in this district that still hosts a revolving door of local retailers, bars & restaurants. And hits up the general fund for about 15 MILLION every year.

- The LGBT commish (pictured above) put this sidewalk achievement on blast and earned quite a bit of online love.

- There's a diverse slew of LGBT candidates running for local office in the upcoming cycle who want to use this kind of street level advocacy to springboard their careers.

More to the point . . .

Despite historic advances in securing rights and even a mainstream connection with the MAGA movement . . .

In many ways, LGBT politics, advocacy and culture is seen (by local MSM at least) as an "alternative" lifestyle in Kansas City when, in fact, this community is very much a prime mover in the mainstream discourse.

You decide . . .
