Kansas City, Missouri police Chief Rick Smith answered questions at a neighborhood meeting about police staffing concerns. There's been recent pressure on the chief to resign from some members of the community.The meeting Wednesday evening was scheduled a while ago, long before Monday's video surfaced that captured the chief's words at the scene of the Cameron Lamb fatal shooting.The police chief did not take questions from the media.

2 men, 1 woman charged following fatal shooting at 43rd and Cleveland

JACKSON COUNTY, MO (KCTV) -- Two men, who are brothers, and a woman have been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that happened near 43rd and Cleveland last Friday. According to the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office, 28-year-old Bonzel Fowler, 30-year-old Byron Fowler, and 27-year-old Tateona Jackson-Williams have been sharged with second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon, and two counts of armed criminal action.

Kansas man in Jan. 6 insurrection pleads guilty

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Kansas man arrested in the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol pleaded guilty Wednesday to a single misdemeanor charge for parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. Mark Rebegila, 32, of St. Marys, Kansas, faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a fine of no more than $5,000.

Shooting near Southeast High School leaves one injured

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- One person was shot near Southeast High School Wednesday afternoon. The incident happened off of school property, according to the school's resource officer. Shots were heard near the school and a vehicle was seen driving away from the scene.

Neighbors pray for victims after boyfriend shoots mother and 2 children, killing 1 child

KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) - Kansas City, Kansas, Police and the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office are investigating a heartbreaking murder-suicide that involves children. They say a man shot a woman and two children, ages 3 and 7, before turning the gun on himself. He and one of the children were pronounced dead immediately.
