Kansas City Council Battle Over Bike Lanes: Bunch Vs. Robinson

This week an EPIC BATTLE FOR NEIGHBORHOOD AUTONOMY AGAINST BIKE LANES sparked two KCMO council members into a heated debate.

And whilst they might agree on a great many topics . . . 

THE COUNCIL FIGHT BETWIXT BUNCH VS. ROBINSON SURPRISED MANY CITY HALL INSIDERS BECAUSE OF ITS INTENSITY!!! 

There were low-key allegations of misrepresentation, corruption, inconvenience and a great many other barbs that make middle-class progressives uncomfortable along with the realization that the urban core doesn't automatically accept every amateur urban planning scheme devised by hipsters.

Accordingly . . .  

Remember that we talked about this power move FIRST and noted the divergence of opinion.

There was some follow-up on the controversial ordinance that was sent back to committee. 

More to the point . . . 

CREDIT TO COUNCIL LADY ROBINSON FOR QUESTIONING KCMO BIKE LANES SCHEMES & WORKING TO LET NEIGHBORHOODS DETERMINE THEIR OWN NEEDS RATHER THAN URBAN PLANNERS MAKING SKETCHY CITYWIDE DECISIONS!!!!

Sadly, there was no resolution to this fight. 

We can only hope there is continued resistance to a "bike plan" that has mostly served to blight iconic tree-lined Kansas City boulevards and make every street in this town look like a silly obstacle course.
