Most locals have already seen this story and skipped over it but it's important to document if only because the local quotient of violence continues to spike despite the holiday season.

Homicide Investigation In The 4000 block of Monroe

This morning about 7:30 am officers were called to a residence near 41st and Monroe on a shooting call

On arrival officers were directed to the yard of a residence there by the caller.  The caller looked outside and saw an adult male in the yard that appeared to have been shot.

Officers located the victim, unresponsive there at the scene.  EMS responded and declared the victim deceased at the scene.

Homicide detectives are canvassing the area at this time hoping to get additional information from anyone that may have heard or seen anything helpful to their investigation.  Right now they will be working hard to determine the victims identity and if they live near here or were visiting anyone here to help get a better idea of what may have taken place.

Crime scene investigators are also processing the scene for any evidence that may lead detectives to what led up to the victim being injured.
