A brief bit of political glamour didn't stop the uptick in Kansas City killing.
This is the 5th KCMO homicide recorded so far this week.
Again, unofficially, this is the 148th homicide so far this year compared to 173 at this time last year, 141 the year before that and 124 (138 total) in 2018.

Homicide 2700 block of Bales
Tonight about 7:15pm officers were dispatched to the area of 27th and Askew on a sound of shots call. While officers were on the way, the call was upgraded to a shooting call in the alley between Askew and Bales.
When officers arrived they located the victim, an adult male, unresponsive near the alleyway between Bales and Askew closer to 28th st. Officers summoned EMS to the scene who declared the victim deceased here at the scene.
Detectives are canvassing the area for witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing for evidence.

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) -- The Kansas City Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened on Wednesday night. According to the KCPD, the fatal shooting happened in the 2700 block of Bales. The police shared the information just before 8 p.m. No further information was provided.
