Kansas City 2021 Homicide #146: Deadly Shooting After Argument


The spate of local violence isn't stopping after the weekend and as the temperatures turn colder. We can debate the merits and causes of the trend but there's no denying the uptick in recent violence amid the holiday season.

Here's big picture citywide perspective . . .

Again, unofficially, this is the 146th homicide so far this year compared with 171 this time last year, 141 the year before that and 138 total in 2018. 

This marks the 7th murder in Kansas City since Friday and 4 killings in around 24 hours.

Homicide 1500 block of Jackson

Today at about 12:15 PM officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Jackson in regard to a party who was down and unresponsive. Upon arrival they found a male lying on the ground who appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds. EMS responded and pronounced that victim deceased. Preliminary information is that there may have been an argument or altercation leading up to this. We do not have any suspect information at this time.


Detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to the scene and are actively canvassing for witnesses and processing the scene.
