Kansas City 2021 Homicide #139: Deadly Drive By On 83rd & Blue Ridge

Whilst our political leaders argue, local violence continues to escalate at the end of the year. 

Overnight the homicide count his 139 compared to 171 at this time last year and 140 the year before that . . . Overall, the murder count trends upward. 

Here's the report . . .

Homicide 83rd and Blue Ridge

This morning about 1:50am officers were dispatched to 81st and Blue Ridge on a shooting call.  The caller advised he and another adult male were inside a vehicle northbound on Blue Ridge near 87th st. when shots were fired into their vehicle from another unknown vehicle.

During the course of that gunfire the victim (an adult male) was struck by the gunfire.  The driver then called 911 and continued to 81st and Blue Ridge and pulled over to get help.

Officers summoned EMS to that location who declared the victim deceased there at the scene.

Detectives are canvassing the area near the original shooting scene for any witnesses and crime scene investigators are processing both scenes for evidence.

One dead in early morning drive-by shooting
