The new variant in the pandemic has arrived.

The science seyz it spreads faster and might (or might not) be just as bad the Delta version of the plague.

Either way, this next phase of a global sickness doesn't bode well for those of us who desperately hope that the planet will stop cowering under the shadow of death.

Health officials in Wyandotte County, Kansas say the omicron variant has been detected in the area.

Two cases of the omicron variant were confirmed by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment lab over the weekend.

Officials with the Unified Government Public Health Department said the confirmed cases are both in adults between 20 and 39 years old. Both of the individuals are fully vaccinated and had two doses of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccine — so, Pfizer or Moderna.

These are considered breakthrough cases.

Health officials confirm 2 omicron variant cases in Wyandotte County

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Two cases of the omicron COVID-19 variant were detected in Wyandotte County over the weekend. The two cases were confirmed through a lab from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment. According to the Unified Government Public Health Department, both individuals were fully vaccinated with a either a Pfizer or Moderna vaccine.
