The Pitch Applauds Kansas City Rent Strike Protesters

The fight for freebie housing earns accolades from hipsters in a recent Kansas City "best of" issue.

Here's the money line from locals who might not understand how real estate works . . .

"This year, KC Tenants successfully ran Zero Eviction January and prevented hundreds of evictions from taking place in the middle of the pandemic. The KC Homeless Union forced the city to pay attention by setting up two different protest camps and created solutions so that many unhoused people wouldn’t spend the freezing winter outdoors."

Sadly, that last line is misleading.

There are plenty of places that are willing and capable to serve the homeless amid frigid temperatures.

However, there is a small but very vocal minority amongst this population who don't/can't stop using booze and drugs in order to qualify for shelter. These folks also present a danger to other homeless people and "accommodating" but not encouraging them is a very real challenge that is tragically unmentioned by our local leadership.

Also . . .

Let's not forget about the "activist class" who mostly comprise the membership of this movement. They are also amongst the loudest protesters in desperate attempts to earn street cred and clout amongst a crop of future political consultants and leaders.
