"The Unified Government Health Department presented the latest COVID-19 data to commissioners during the meeting, recommending that they extend the mask mandate. The health department says COVID-19 cases have more than doubled from their low of 18 to about 30 cases each day.

"One county health official compared it to banning smoking indoors. Less than half the total population in Wyandotte County is fully vaccinated. They anticipate that many parents who are not vaccinated will not have their children vaccinated either."

Wyandotte County votes to extend its mask mandate

The Wyandotte County Board of Commissioners voted Thursday night to extend the county's mask mandate until Jan. 6. The extension of the mask order passed by a vote of 6-3.It's one of the last areas in the Kansas City metro to still require masks indoors.The Unified Government Health Department presented the latest COVID-19 data to commissioners during the meeting, recommending that they extend the mask mandate.


Unified Government of Wyandotte County/KCK Commissioners extend mask mandate into January 2022

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Board of Commissioners of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas, voted 6-3 Thursday night to extend the city's mask mandate. The mask mandate will go until Jan. 6, 2022. Health department representatives told board members only 45.6% have completed their vaccinations and just over 50% have received one dose.

KANSAS CITY, KS (KCTV) --- While mask mandates have been dropped across the Kansas City metro area, one city extended its requirement on Thursday evening. The Unified Government Board of Commissioners voted 6-3 to extend its mandate for seven additional weeks until the first week of Jan. 6, 2022.
